The Bible and Lod
( Tel Aviv } -----Airport City and Ben Gurion International Airport are located in the city of Lod, an ancient city also known as Lydda that is mentioned several times in the bible . In the New Testament, simon Peter healed the paralyzed people at Lod. st. George, the patron saint of England, is said to be buried there. After the Arabs conquered Palestine in the seventh centry the Crusaders held it and named it St. Jorge de Lidde. Later, Lod was occupied by the invading Arab Legion of Jordan. The Israel Defense Forces attacked and captured Lod on July 12, 1948. Lod is now a major transportation hub primarily because of Ben Gurion Airport, Israel's only terminus for overseas flights. It is located five miles north of Lod. It is also the location of Israel's Aircraft Industries, a government company which services and repairs civilian aircraft for many countries and also builds commercial and military jet aircraft.

{ Nablus, Israel } Shortly after the Israeli army temporarily evacuated the traditional Tomb of Joseph, Palestinian gunmen and civilians climbed onto the site, destroyed its sacred books and set fire to the complex. Later, when a group of Jewish tourists tried to visit the site, Palestinians began shooting at them. Several people were killed or injured. Others violence shattered the peace process and both sides threatened an all out war. The Jerusalem Post
